Learning to love yourself is a fearless act. Getting past the belly ache that’s brought on by your own embarrassing human need to sit with your emotions- that’s brave. “Damn, you really live like this?” is what I told myself before I started therapy. Then I understood: I’d been simmering in the pressure cooker of life. Letting off that steam and cracking open that lid actually revealed a version of myself that I liked. One that said “I’m sorry” and not “I’m sorry but”. Turns out this whole time I thought the pressure was the reward, and forgot about how exquisite beans are when they’ve been simmering for a while.
